Frequently Asked Questions....
1. What types of photography do you do?
JDP offers a variety of sessions to meet your portrait needs... Engagement, Family, Maternity, Newborn, 1st year milestones, Children, Senior Portraits, Glamour, Boudoir, Headshots, Special occasion, Cake Smash, Event... (I have shot small location weddings, but would not consider myself a wedding photographer).
Maternity sessions are usually done around 35-37 weeks.
Newborns are best photographed from 7-10 days of age. At this stage, babies are more pliable and sleepy making for wonderful images.
2. Where and When are sessions done?
I prefer to shoot on location using natural light. There are several locations around Columbus that make for gorgeous backdrops! Depending on the feel you are looking for, I can make suggestions. I will also come to your home with my gear if you prefer. For smaller babies/newborns and maternity pictures that require partial nudity, I can come to your home.
As far as time of day... for outdoor shoots it is best to work with the glowing morning and evening sun. Mid day sessions are difficult because the lighting is too harsh causing shadows and squinting. Depending on location tho, time of day may be flexible.
3. How much do sessions cost?
All fees include our intial consultation, my travel time to and from the session (.50/mi after first 30 mi), all creative and touchup editing, the uploading of your images into your very own private online viewing gallery, my assistance with your photo ordering needs, and print credit or Downloadable Digital High Resolution Files.. Please see the Investment tab for session pricing.
4. What should we wear for a session?
You should always wear what you are most comfortable in and clothing that suits your personality. It is nice for families to coordinate, but you do not have to match. Jeans or Khaki's are always a good option, and colors that compliment each other are usually pleasing to the eye. Try to avoid bold prints/patterns.
5. What happens after my session?
All editing of your session will usually be completed within 14-21 days. I will share a sneak peek of your images on Facebook (with your permission) as I am editing. After editing is complete, your session will be available to view here in a private online gallery. From this album you will be able to place photo print orders and share your photos with family and friends. If your package includes Digital High Resolution Files those will be released to you Via your PASS Gallery. Also, remember to check out the unique customizable framing options that I offer from The Organic Bloom.
6. Will my photos be available to view on Facebook?
With your permission I will post some highlights from your sessions for you to share with your friends/family. I don't mind if you use your pictures for your profile image, but please do not crop out my watermark logo.
7. What about holiday photo sessions?
My busiest time of year is approaching the holidays. If you would like to schedule a holiday photo session to use for Christmas cards or gifts, please make sure to plan ahead. In order to have your photos in time for the holidays, it is best to schedule your session in October or November. I will not schedule holiday shoots past the first weekend in December. I reserve the rest of the month to finish processing current sessions, and to enjoy the season with my own family.
